Robert Maggio awarded a New Jersey State Council on the Arts Project Serving Artists grant to compose a new work for the Riverside Symphonia

Robert Maggio and Princeton composer, Paul Lansky will each write a 7-8 minute work for chamber orchestra tentatively titled, "Color, Line and Shadow" for the October 3-4, 2008 Riverside Symphonia concerts in Lambertville, NJ. The concert will also feature projections of artworks by Lambertville and Princeton-area artists whose work will serve as a point of departure for the creative process.

Robert Maggio commissioned by a consortium of choirs to compose a new work for Equality Forum in Philadelphia in the Spring of 2009

The Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia, The Gay Men's Chorus, and the Anna Crusis Women's Choir have combined to commission three Philadelphia-area composers—Robert Maggio, Cythia Folio, and Peter Hilliard—to write 5-minute works on the theme of diversity and equality to be premiered in the Spring of 2009 during the Equality Forum celebration.

The Arizona Friends of Chamber Music Commission Robert Maggio for Second String Quartet

The Borromeo String Quartet will give the premiere of Robert Maggio's 2nd String Quartet on January 14, 2009 in Tuscon, AZ, commissioned by the Arizona Friends of Chamber Music.

Robert Maggio composes incidental music for Philadelphia Theatre Company's M. Butterfly

Philadelphia Theatre Company rings in the new year with the Philadelphia premiere of David Henry Hwang's M. Butterfly, January 18-February 24, at Philadelphia Theatre Company's new home, the Suzanne Roberts Theatre (Broad and Lombard Streets).

PTC's production celebrates the 20th Anniversary of this Tony Award-winning contemporary classic. Directed by Joe Calarco, the production features Telly Leung as Song and Christopher Innvar as Gallimard with a supporting cast featuring Jared Michael Delaney, Doan Ly, Anne Marie Nest, Larry Petersen, and Susan Wilder. Robert Maggio has composed incidental music that spins variations of Puccini's classic score.

Previews begin Friday, January 18 with opening night on Wednesday, January 23. Performances run Tuesday through Sunday. Due to popular demand, the production has been extended through February 24. The Reading Musical Foundation commissions Robert Maggio

The Reading Musical Foundation has commissioned Robert Maggio to compose song settings for the Berks Classical Children's Chorus on poems by Peter V. Fritsch from his recent book, Der Haahne Greht, in Pennsylvania German. The premiere will be May 4, 2008 in Berks County, PA. RMF undertook this project to promote Berks County's strongly Pennsylvania German heritage and further RMF's efforts in music education and music appreciation. The commission was made possible by a generous gift from C. Thomas Work, immediate past president of the RMF.
